Mike Murphy

After military service, Mike built a a nine-year career at the corporate office of The Home Depot serving as an internal consultant focused on process improvement.  He held several different roles of increasing responsibility that included accounting, finance, strategy, process improvement (six sigma) and operations.  Mike managed the quantitative analysis team that was responsible for global pricing, product placement and yield management for all Tool Rental locations.  In this role he led the cultural change in management philosophy to a centralized, data-driven approach resulting in increased control, efficiency and profitability.

In 2006 Mike left The Home Depot to work for ShawHankins: an insurance brokerage firm headquartered in Cartersville.  As Chief Financial Officer he was responsible for financial operations, administrative operations, database development and special projects.  At the time, ShawHankins was experiencing substantial growth and Mike was involved in forming the new corporate strategy.  Then he developed and implemented the financial and operational infrastructure to support it.  These changes provided the scalability to allow continued growth from a small business to a regional competitor with several locations throughout Georgia.

In 2010 Mike founded Murphy CFO - a boutique consulting firm focused on strategy and infrastructure needed for profitable, sustainable growth. Today, Murphy CFO continues to work with a select group of businesses on the journey of growth and expansion.
